Vanessa Wagner unveils a new single: Philip Glass’s Étude No. 16 → Listen

Vanessa Wagner announces the release of a new single taken from her project Figures of Glass: an edited version of Philip Glass’s Étude No. 16 for piano.

More inward-looking in nature, this Étude unfolds over an expanded sense of time, carried by a slow harmonic drift. Vanessa Wagner’s interpretation highlights its restraint and depth of listening, allowing a subtle melancholy to surface within an intentionally sober expressive framework. Drawn from her complete recording of the Piano Études, this edited version brings the work’s emotional power into sharper focus, balancing contained tension with a sense of suspended time.

With Figures of Glass (Piano Etudes – Edits), Vanessa Wagner offers a new point of entry into Philip Glass’s Études, through a carefully curated selection of versions conceived as a sensitive, immersive journey. Developed in parallel with Figures of Glass, a hybrid project created with the Scale collective, the album extends a dialogue between piano and light, sound and space. Figures of Glass will be aired on ARTE for their show “Sur Mesures” and will be presented at Theatre de la Chatelet the 7th of April.
