Bachar’s version follows in a long tradition of secular artists that have been inspired by “Kyrie”, including David Axelrod, Sinead O’Connor, Juno Reactor, not to mention of course the Classical music composers like Bach, Beethoven and Mozart…
The track is taken from his forthcoming album Ya Balad (translates as “Oh Country”) and is set for release on InFiné October 2nd 2015. This new album is a projection of Bachar’s childhood memories and the paths of exile, mainly sung in Arabic as an open letter to Lebanon, his native country.
The album cover features photography from Lee Jeffries, renown for his portrait series of homeless people in Los Angeles, which later formed the book Lost Angels. "His images also refer to the sacred. In the representation of the passion, joyful suffering."
